Violet – The Musical from the Tony Award-winning Jeanine Tesori with a libretto by Brian Crawley. With show-stopping anthems ranging from American roots to folk to gospel, it follows a truly original woman who on her quest across America for divine intervention finds a very different kind of salvation. If Chekhov, Lena Dunham and Aretha Franklin conspired to write a musical, this would be it.

Facially scarred as a child in an accident, Violet undertakes her search for beauty amidst the image obsessed landscape and racial tensions of the American South in the 1960s. Journeying across the country with a rag bag of fellow travellers, she discovers that true beauty is not always in the eye of the beholder.

With a vibrant, multi-genre score by Jeanine Tesori (Caroline or Change, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Shrek The Musical), and libretto by Brian Crawley (The Little Princess), Violet encompasses show-stopping anthems, American roots, soul and gospel.

Originally staged at Hayes Theatre Co in 2015 (3 – 20 December 2015). Presented at Chapel off Chapel in March 2016 (3 – 20 March 2016)
